Lagosians will experience this year’s Christmas with a special package from The Lagos State Government tagged ‘Lagos Street Party’.
The Lagos State Government said on Thursday that the concert tagged The Lagos Street Party and kick-starting the yuletide period would be first of its kind.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, who disclosed this at a briefing, said the party, organised in collaboration with White Star, an entertainment outfit, was part of the idea of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to use entertainment to drive the State’s economy.
He disclosed that it would hold on December 3rd and 4th.
The commissioner explained that the TLSP will be holding at the Ahmadu Bello Way on Victoria Island, which will be shut down for the event.
Ayorinde added that alternative routes would be created for motorists affected by the closure.
The commissioner said that not less than 500,000 people would be expected at the event daily which would be holding from 12 mid-day to 12 midnight, adding that adequate security would be provided.
“The street party, which will witness local and foreign visitors, is not to kill other carnivals like the One Lagos Fiesta but it is to complement it. Immediately after the Lagos Street Party, we will come out with the plans for this year’s edition of the One Lagos Fiesta,” Ayorinde said.
Representative of White Star, Mr. Akin Akinyelure, said the party would feature live music, diverse cuisine and creative indigenous games in a beautiful environment.
“The first day of the party will feature colourful cultural parades, displays, acrobatic acts and live performances by several Nigerian musicians, including Olamide, Phyno, MI, Kaffy, Ice Prince, Humblesmith, DJ Spinall, DJ Lambo, The Police Band and a host of others,” Akinyelure said.
